We get it. Finding time in your busy daily schedule is not easy. You have appointments, work, and family commitments, plus you need to find time to eat, exercise, and sleep. So it’s easy to put off a diabetes lab test as just one more thing on the list, even if you know it’s important.
That’s why 9am.health offers at-home diabetes lab testing. We bring the lab to you, so you can get your tests done on your schedule. No more waiting in line or taking time off work. Now you can schedule at-home lab tests when it works for you.
Which at-home lab tests does 9am.health offer?
9am.health has always offered at-home tests for A1c and cholesterol (more on what these are below). But as a new offering, all 9am.health patients have access to even more at-home collection by our partner Scarlet Health, including a comprehensive panel to look at liver, kidney, and metabolic health.
Which lab tests should I take for diabetes?
Regular testing helps you and your diabetes care team track how well your diabetes management plan is working and provide a glimpse into your overall health. The most important diabetes lab tests are:
- An A1C test to measure your average blood sugar level over the past two to three months.
- A lipid panel, which includes cholesterol and triglycerides for heart health.
- Complete a metabolic panel (CMP) to check your liver and kidney function and electrolyte balance.
- Microalbumin to screen for early signs of kidney disease.
This information tells you if your current treatment is working, so you and your care team can adjust medications or lifestyle habits to optimize your plan.
How does at-home lab testing work?
Getting your labs drawn at home is a simple, seamless process. Once you’ve added the comprehensive lab tests to your treatment plan, you’ll schedule a convenient time with our partner Scarlet Health for a phlebotomist (someone trained to draw blood) to come to you. You get to specify when and where, making it so simple to manage your diabetes care effectively.
The lab testing will include all the essential tests listed above, including A1c, lipids and a comprehensive metabolic panel, and microalbumin.
How much does it cost to do at-home lab tests?
At 9am.health, affordability and accessibility are always primary goals. The price is set at $15 per month for a 3-month subscription when added to your treatment plan (monthly subscribers pay about 20 percent more). This cost is comparable to the average copay for insurance you’d see if you had your blood drawn at a regular lab. Without insurance, it would cost hundreds of dollars!
